Can you deliver to my hotel in Japan?

Yes, for anything that travels at room temperature. We aim to have the parcel reach the hotel the day before you check in, and the front desk holds it for you. We need three things: the hotel name, the name on your booking, and your check-in date. Chilled, frozen and beef orders cannot go to a hotel.

What do you need from me?

  1. 01Choose "hotel in Japan" on the screen before payment.
  2. 02Type the hotel name exactly as the hotel writes it (for example, Hotel Nikko Osaka).
  3. 03Pick your check-in date. Dates earlier than the earliest possible delivery are not selectable.
  4. 04Use the same name as the booking — the front desk matches parcels against the reservation name.

When does it arrive?

We aim for the day before check-in, and the date picker refuses any date we cannot make. A parcel that arrives outside your stay is often refused by the hotel, which is the failure we design around.

  • Dispatch is the next working day; sake ships from the brewery, which packs Monday to Thursday.
  • If your check-in is too close, the date cannot be selected and the screen says why.
  • A tracking number arrives by email on dispatch — useful when you ask the front desk for the parcel.

What cannot go to a hotel?

Nothing chilled or frozen. A hotel front desk can only hold a parcel at room temperature, which is why Iga beef is delivered to home addresses in Japan only.

Ambient sake, sweets, seasonings and drinkware are all fine. In high summer (July to September) we may recommend cool delivery even for sake, and in that case please choose an address rather than a hotel.

Is there an age check at the hotel?

For any order containing alcohol you enter your date of birth before payment, and we cannot sell to anyone under 20. The courier may also ask for ID on delivery.

The sale of alcohol to persons under 20 is prohibited by law in Japan.

Questions

Can the hotel refuse the parcel?
It can happen if the name on the parcel does not match the booking, or if the parcel arrives outside your stay. Use the booking name and the right check-in date. If you want to be certain, ask the hotel whether they accept parcels for guests ahead of arrival — most do.
Can you deliver to an Airbnb or guesthouse?
Only if someone is there to receive it. Properties with unattended self check-in cannot take a delivery. In that case consider a convenience-store pickup or a friend's address.
What if it will not arrive before I fly home?
Send it to a friend or relative in Japan instead, or — for alcohol-free items — have it shipped directly to your home address overseas.
