Who runs this

A shop for Japanese gifts, run by the Gate Japan side of Guida LLC.

What does the company do?

Guida LLC connects Japanese industries to markets abroad. Gate Japan is the export side of that work — events, marketing and sales in one. Sake is where we started.

This shop exists so the breweries and producers we meet through that work can be bought from directly.

How is anything chosen?

We go to the brewery or the farm and meet the person making it. We ask about the water hardness, the pressing method, the shipping window, the months an animal was raised — and we print the answers.

We would rather be able to explain forty products than list four hundred.

How we choose

    We meet the maker first

    We go to the brewery or the farm and meet the person making it before we list anything. If we have not been, we do not stock it.

  2. 02

    We print what we were told

    Water hardness, pressing method, the months an animal was raised. The answers go on the product page as given, and what we don't know we don't write.

    We don't grow the list

    We would rather be able to explain forty products than list four hundred.

Where we have been

Our own photography is still to be taken. We do not run pictures of other people's breweries or shops as though they were ours; every drawing on this site was made for it.

We keep no permanent storefront. We sell at fairs and events, where you choose on the spot and we send it to your address in Japan or to your hotel. Whatever is running now is on the home page.
