How do I pay, and in what currency?

Payment happens on Stripe's checkout page and accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. You are always charged in Japanese yen. Figures shown in other currencies are a reference conversion, not the amount taken. Displayed prices include Japanese consumption tax.

Which payment methods work?

  • Credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay, shown on the payment screen where the device supports them
  • No bank transfer, cash on delivery or convenience-store payment
  • Card details are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers

What is that in my currency?

The table below converts ¥10,000 as a reference. The actual charge is in yen, and the amount that leaves your account is set by your card issuer's rate, which will not match ours exactly.

How is tax shown?

The price you see includes Japanese consumption tax — 8% on food, 10% on non-food items. Shipping is added on top.

Prices include Japanese consumption tax. Export tax exemption is not yet available. An overseas order is charged the same tax-inclusive price.

Separately from that, the destination country charges the recipient duty, VAT or excise on arrival, and we cannot pay it for you in advance.

We do not use the words "tax-free": mail order is outside the tax-free shopping scheme for travellers.

Can I get a receipt or an invoice?

The order confirmation email works as a receipt. If you need one made out to a company, or a quotation or invoice before ordering, email us with the order number — we can issue a qualified invoice for Japanese tax purposes.

Gifts never contain an invoice; nothing in the box shows the price.

Questions

Do overseas cards work?
Yes. The charge is in yen, so your issuer may add a foreign transaction fee, and you may be asked to complete a 3-D Secure check.
My payment failed.
The issuer usually blocked it. Try another card or call your bank; your cart is still there.
Can the receipt show my company name?
Yes — send us the order number and the name to use. For bulk corporate orders we can work from a quotation and invoice instead.
