Where do you deliver, what does it cost, and when does it arrive?

We deliver to any address in Japan and to the hotel you are staying in. Shipping alcohol out of Japan needs an export licence for liquor wholesalers, which we are still obtaining. Until then we cannot send it abroad. Domestic shipping is one flat rate for the whole country, with a surcharge for anything chilled or frozen and free delivery above a set order value. The table below shows the figures, and they are the ones you pay.

Hotels store parcels at room temperature, so chilled and frozen items can't go there.
We can't ship alcohol overseas yet; the export licence is in progress. Items without alcohol can be sent abroad today.
Meat is delivered to Japanese addresses only — no hotels, no overseas.

For overseas delivery, duties and local taxes are paid by the recipient.

How much is shipping?

One rate for the whole of Japan — there is no regional difference. Chilled and frozen items carry a surcharge, and domestic shipping is free above a set order value. Overseas is priced by region, with duty and local tax paid separately by the recipient. The tables below are generated from the shipping settings, so they are what you are charged.

Every figure is an example; the exact amount is confirmed at payment. An order that mixes ambient and cold-chain items ships as two parcels and is charged two shipping fees.

When will it arrive?

We dispatch on the next working day, and domestic parcels arrive two to four working days after that. Sake ships direct from the brewery, which packs Monday to Thursday. For overseas orders we promise a dispatch date and never an arrival date, because nobody can predict customs.

How is it packed?

Single 720 ml bottles are wrapped individually; two or more travel in a divided bottle carton.
Chilled and frozen items go by cool delivery (0–10 °C chilled, −15 °C or below frozen).
A cool-delivery parcel is only held for about three days if nobody is in. Pick a date you can actually receive.
Nothing on the outside of the box names the contents, and no invoice goes inside, so a gift never shows its price.

Questions

Can I choose the delivery date and time?

For deliveries inside Japan you can pick a date and a time slot from the earliest available day onwards. That earliest day differs per product and is shown on the product page and before payment. Overseas deliveries cannot be scheduled.

Is there free shipping?

Yes, above a set order value for deliveries inside Japan. The figure is printed under the fee table above, generated from the current settings rather than typed here. Overseas shipping is never free.

Can one order go to several addresses?

One order goes to one address; place a separate order for each recipient. For bulk or corporate orders we arrange the split by hand — ask us.
